Already FB's News Feed for personal and fan pages is looking much like a Tweeter Timeline, but with all the functionality of embedded video, etc. It's going to be interesting to see how these 2 colossus duke it out.

i doubt the owners of twitter will sell up. the money made from social media advertising is huge (just ask facebook) so i cant see them selling.

as for posting twitter updates to facebook. it depends on whether both sets of followers are of the same interest. will your facebook followers thankyou for a tweet about cars when they are interested in bikes? as long as your fb and twitter are highly targeted in the same niche then yes id say its ok to update fb with tweets.

Just because facebook failed at their first attempt does not mean they have lost interest. Twitters intrinsic value is not governed by it revenue generation but what it will be worth as an enhancement to a facebook type business .etc.
