"don't fall into the trap of talking to one person"
I agree you should talk to lots of people when networking, but hey, when you find some one that can 'really' help you, and you can really help them, become their friend.
And if we're going to follow dale carnigie's advice in full, he recommends finding a person you really click with and speaking to that person the rest of the night.
After all, it's better to find one person that helps you, than talk to 100 that can't.
