Doom and gloom? isn't it thanks to downturns which force people to think on their own and create new ideas. When you lose a job and have nothing to do some people exploit this time and create a successful business, but if they had a job they would never think about it and concentrate on their job instead. Duing recession people start thinking about investing their money for the future downturns and it drives stock markets higher.
