I also rely on your twitter post to let me know when a new post is up. I find myself more relying on twitter for post information and news lately then subscribing to feeds. I actually started coming more to your site because you implemented news on your twitter.

As a new arrival to the business side of Twitter, I love the blog updates but 2nd comments by andymurd & Jeff Majka. I find it wearying to wade through a slew of links with insufficient context. Personal commentary - even if not about the posts - provides context. A series of posts does not.

I find myself subscribing less and less to blogs and relying more on friendfeed and twitter. I like it much better. Seems like more fun and less work, somehow.

In fact, I found this link on friendfeed under "friend of Robert Scoble"

It's definitely necessary because it's a way to gain visitors and also answer questions and get more opinions about your posts.

I've been trying Chris Brogan's technique also, and I mostly get responses right on Twitter, though I'd love to have it on my blog instead. However, it's a conversation and one that has the potential to be led back to the blog and also get others to join in. Twitter is one of my biggest referrals though.

I agree Nick. It's important to give more value than you take, I think. Tweeting an occasional but interesting blog post is OK, if you have a track record of valuable participation.

It's not poor form per se, but Twitterr is all about balance. With Twitter, I subscribe to a person not a feed so I'm interested in their thoughts as well as their work.

I like to see an equal distribution of ideas, conversation and links (both your own and other people's).

Can't say I've seen a lot of incoming traffic from Twitter but I do still announce my posts. I used to use TwitterFeed to do this automatically but if my feed got republished in its entirety it would tweet my last ten posts, which was just spammy so I do it manually now.

I agree on this one, though I would also add Facebook status updates to the mix. I get more out of pushing my blog postings to my Facebook status (via the Facebook Twitter app by way of Twitterfeed). But, that is probably due to network size differences (my Facebook universe is much larger than my Twitter)...
