Social Times: Emerging Trends in Viral Video and the Implications for Advertising

  • andrewacomb · 1 year ago
Videos that can be modified by users is a "trend" I always enjoy. It's personal, direct, and usually the company gets your email out of the deal.

Like the classic Elf Yourself for OfficeMax( http://www.elfyourself.com/ ) or the creepy Copy Cat Killer one for the Dexter television show ( http://www.icetruck.tv/ ).

One of my personal favorites was the Make Me Super by Kodak ( http://www.makemesuper.com/ ).

Here's my "Super" video for an example: http://www.andrewacomb.com/blog/2008/10/29/supe...

One of the most beautiful films of any kind I've ever seen was a ad for the Sony Bravia tv. It was produced several years ago - the one with the thousands of multi-colored bouncy balls travelling down the streets of San Feancisco. It was visually stunning, and the music by José Gozalez was perfect.

It was a film too long for an American tv spot. I only saw it online. But I do know what brand of tv I want to buy because of it.

LOl. This reminds of of that fake big foot remains discovery that went viral not too long ago sometime in 2008. Boy was that a fake! Just like that Viral Campaign of In an Out Burgers as well. They claimed it wasn't their idea but i beg to differ... Great article.
